The exclusive exhibition will feature Fahad Hussayn’s Spring/Summer Collection titled ‘Praxus’ which he showcased at the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2013. Fahad Hussayn’s inspiration behind the collection comes from his love and appreciation of the people of Pakistan who have faced every adversity with bravery and courage during the last few years.

The collection’s name ‘Praxus‘ means a mythical inspired imaginary world of warriors, warriors who fight for love. In order to further covey his inspiration the designer has used colors like ivory and shades of metallic gold coupled with limited edition silk prints, custom designed fabrics and flock prints on net. The collection pieces also features metallic embroideries along with silhouettes and patchwork used to create desired optical illusions in crystal facets.

In addition to this, Fahad Hussayn is also exhibiting his limited edition print museum lawn collection, available both in ready-to-wear and unstitched fabric along with his signature mid-summer Prèt, Prodigy. Fahad Hussayn is also exhibiting his read-to-wear special edition kurtas for men.

Speaking about the exhibition at the PFDC Boulevard, Fahad Hussayn has said, “I want people to experience the quality and the value for money that the Prodigy range offers. The collection features a diverse array of clothing at varied price ranges, where there’s something for everyone and an outfit for every occasion.”

Fahad Hussayn will soon be launching his first flagship store in Lahore prior to which all of his collections will be available for pre-booking of prints at the exhibition.

LUX Style Awards announces Nominations in 23 categories

12th Annual LUX Style Awards Nominations list celebrates the best of Pakistan’s Music, TV and Fashion

The Awards office of the 12th Annual LUX Style Awards announced nominations in 22 categories in the field of television, music and fashion in Karachi yesterday. The three distinct juries that debated and voted for the TV, Music and Fashion nominations had an intensive and challenging task to narrow down to five nominations per category.

The Film Jury refrained from suggesting any 2012 release for nomination this year.

The eight TV nominations were divided into satellite and terrestrial for the Best Serial, Best Actor/Actresses categories. The final winner for each of these categories is decided by Viewer’s Choice votes while Nominees for Best Director and Writer Awards will be decided via Jury Votes. Hum Tv’s mega blockbuster hit Humsafar has a presence in all relevant categories as it is now eligible for inclusion this year as against 2011 as per the rules of the LUX Style Awards. The competition in all TV categories is expected to be intense.

Competition for the nine Fashion Categories was tough and challenging. The Jury, made up of Fashion Editors and journalists across Pakistan voted for top five in each category. Fashion’s new vibrancy is gauged most by the entry of so many new practitioners in the Emerging Talent category. The other categories reflected the state of the industry with its blend of entrenched old guard still exciting with new ideas and the push up by vibrant new talent to edge them out and gain a foothold in the big design, styling and photography categories.

The LUX Style Awards for excellence in the field of Entertainment and Fashion in Pakistan are held annually and aired throughout the country on several national channels.

Overload’s song Ankahi

Speaking with regard to Overload’s nomination, founding member of the band and composer of Ankahi Sheraz Siddiq says, “Ankahi’s nomination comes to me as a very pleasant surprise not only for the reason that its Overload’s seventh LSA nomination since 2006 but also for the fact that our audience and critics are encouraging art over entertainment. It does not matter if we win or lose. What matters is that art is encouraged and patronized.”

The lyrics for Ankahi were written by Tahir Shaheer while the video took three gruelling days and nights to shoot by Sabeeh Khan – Director of Photography. A total of a 120 cast and crew members were involved in producing this song, making it the biggest production to date by Overload. The lyrics and video of the song combine to reflect the current socio and political state of Pakistan. The video not only features legendary film actor Nadeem but also portrays graceful dancer Nighat Choudary and the renowned Naveed Shahzad.

Overload came together in 2003 as a Pakistani rock band from Lahore. They are regarded as the ‘Loudest band in Pakistan’ by many. Other members of the band include Sheraz Siddiq, keyboard/synth player, songwriter and composer and Nasir Sain, one of the top dhol players in the world.

Since the band’s inception in 2003 they have released two studio albums and one live album. Their first album, self-titled Overload, charted at the number one spot on the Pakistan music charts. Overload has won a number of awards over the years as well as the award for Best Live Act from Pakistan. In more recent years they have taken the international arena by storm with their performances in festivals and solo concerts in Japan, Sri Lanka, Norway, UAE and UK.

Overload is constantly bringing something new to the music scene by collaborating with various musicians and artists from around Pakistan. Everybody looks forward to seeing what they bring us in the future.
